Postcard for Arnold Schoenberg (1874-1951) written by Alma Mahler (1879-1964) with remarks of Gustav Mahler. His greetings in the top left corner, "Gustav Mahler (for 2 hands)", has led some to speculate that the man in the rowboat might have been Mahler himself.

House sold 07-1908.

The present owner of the villa fiercely cherishes his privacy, he does not particularly welcome rubberneckers and discourages visitors who knock on his door. But he did make an exception for Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990); the composer-conductor was allowed to play on the piano used by Mahler during his sojourns there.

Following the sudden death of his five-year old daughter Maria Anna Mahler (Putzi) (1902-1907) in 1907, Mahler sold the villa in 1908 and never returned to Maiernigg. Now in the city of Klagenfurt and called Villa Siegel.
